Imagine the Pope telling you to become a professional photographer!
That’s exactly what happened to me while vacationing in Rome in 1987. As he passed in his Pope mobile, I captured a close-up of his face with my telephoto lens, sold the portrait to a magazine for $150, was hooked and the rest is history.
We are all given a gift, and I found that mine was to capture the truest spirit of each subject, while bringing along happiness and laughter. It has to be about fun, every day. Known to the little ones and the teachers I photograph as "Pumpkin Patte," I’m happy to say my smile lines are the proudest additions to my face because each one was grown out of love and fun with each and every client.
